Whether you’re thinking about scheduling your first surgery or even your third, chances are you’re probably nervous. And that is completely normal! In fact, about 85 percent of people feel worried before undergoing a procedure. The question is: what can you do to feel better?
At Island Plastic Surgery, it is our goal to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible before your surgical procedure. However, we understand that sometimes you need a little extra advice, which is while we’ve compiled the following list of ways you can keep calm and have a positive experience:
Practice visualization. The unconscious mind can play tricks on you, but don’t give into them! With that being said, try to focus on your positive thoughts instead of your negative ones. Imagine yourself feeling relaxed before your procedure and push away the visions of you feeling nervous. Practice this exercise days before your surgery to strengthen those positive feelings.
Listen to music. Listening to some relaxing music can be a huge help! So before your appointment, plug in your headphones and sink into some soothing tunes. You can also do this the night before your surgery to help you get a good night’s sleep.
Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Addressing your fears and concerns about the procedure is one of the best things you can do before your appointment. Why? Because not only will it ease your mind about any preconceived notions, but it will also help you feel more comfortable with your doctor.
