Breast Lift
Helping You Achieve Firmer, More Youthful Breasts
Many factors can influence the shape of your breasts. Weight gain, pregnancy and breastfeeding, the natural aging process, and the simple forces of gravity all take their toll on the elasticity and firmness of breast tissue. Over time, breasts start to sag, leaving many women longing for the days of their youth. Fortunately, Island Plastic Surgery offers an effective breast lift procedure that can tighten and lift the skin of the breasts without having to resort to the use of implants. A breast lift, or mastopexy, won’t significantly change the size of your breasts but can be performed on its own or in conjunction with a breast augmentation or breast reduction to help you achieve the firm, youthful breasts you have always wanted.

Good Candidates for Breast Lift
You may be a candidate for a breast lift if:
- Your breasts have fully developed
- You are at a stable weight
- You are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant in the near future
- You have stretched skin and enlarged areolas
- One breast is lower than the others
- Your nipples and areolas point downward
- You are unhappy with the appearance of your breasts
- You have sagging breasts that are loose and lack substance
Getting Started
At Island Plastic Surgery, we are happy to help you restore the appearance of your breasts. During your initial consultation, we will sit down with you and obtain a full understanding of your goals, especially if you have other breast improvements in mind. Our surgeons will carefully evaluate your breasts to determine if a breast lift is right for you.
What to Expect
After medications are administered to ensure your comfort, the surgeon will make several incisions. The underlying breast tissue will be lifted and reshaped, the nipple and areola repositioned, and the excess breast skin removed. Then, the incisions will be closed and a surgical dressing will be applied. Breast lifts usually take 1-2 hours and you will most likely return home the same day.
Recovering From Surgery
After surgery, breasts will be swollen and bruised for about 2 weeks, and you will likely feel pain and soreness around the incisions. Although you will need to wear a support bra to aid with recovery, you will be able to move around normally. Most sutures do not need to be removed. You should be able to return to work in 3-4 days and can start exercising again in 3-4 weeks. Avoid actions that involve lifting, straining, or strenuous exercise until the breasts have completely healed.
